Undifferentiated cancer is more malignant and progresses more rapidly, and many patients already have distant metastases at the time of diagnosis. If resection is possible, then surgery remains the preferred treatment option. Postoperative supplementation with external radiation therapy may extend survival time.
Targeted agents for undifferentiated cancer are still in clinical research.
