How to prevent amniotic fluid embolism in pregnant women

The cause of amniotic fluid embolism is not well understood and it is difficult for pregnant women to prevent it. However, the risk of this disease can be reduced to some extent by reducing the intensity of contractions, regular labor checkups, dietary adjustments, and weight gain control. Since amniotic fluid embolism is likely to occur in older pregnant women with strong contractions during labor and rupture of fetal membranes accompanied by contractions, it is helpful to reduce the occurrence of amniotic fluid embolism due to strong contractions by the surgeon avoiding contractions to break the membranes artificially, observing the contractions closely, and applying contraction inhibitors when necessary. In addition, regular checkups, proper diet and weight gain control during pregnancy can also help reduce the risk of amniotic fluid embolism. Therefore, pregnant women are advised to undergo regular obstetric checkups and inform their doctors when they experience any discomfort, so as to avoid discomfort that could jeopardize the mother and fetus.
