Acne vulgaris, commonly known as pimples, is a chronic inflammatory skin disease of the sebaceous units of the hair follicles. Clinical manifestations are characterized by polymorphic lesions such as acne, papules, pustules, and nodules that occur on the face. Overproduction of androgens: This is the most important cause. Especially in adolescent men and women, excessive androgen secretion is the main reason for the formation of acne. In the case of Yin deficiency, it is often accompanied by lumbar pain, irritable heat in the five hearts, dry mouth and thirst. For Yang deficiency, it is common to have unheated limbs, cold fear, white face, pale lips, cold pain in the abdomen during menstruation, reduced by heat, dull tongue, white fur, tooth marks, and sunken pulse. This type is common in patients with onset after puberty. Before the onset of menstruation, menstrual blood is full and easily provoked by liver qi, and the surplus of qi is fire, which is inflammatory and refines fluid into phlegm, forming acne. The kidneys are the main sealers of the body. A disorder of the liver and kidneys can lead to menstrual disorders, endocrine disorders and acne. If the patient has generalized symptoms such as fever in the heart of the hands and feet, night sweats, etc., it is due to kidney yin deficiency and deficiency fire, so the treatment is to nourish yin and lower the fire. Because the liver and kidney are of the same origin, the treatment should take into account each other, nourishing kidney yin without forgetting to clear liver fire, warming kidney yang while warming liver yang.
