Precautions before gynecological examination

Modern people are generally more concerned about their health, and regular gynecological examinations for women are more timely to detect diseases. Dr. Wan Guiping, director of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology of Jiangsu Provincial Hospital of Integrative Medicine, said that regular gynecological checkups are necessary, such as white belt examination for early detection of vaginal inflammation, cervicitis and pelvic inflammatory disease; regular ultrasound examination for early detection of uterine fibroids and ovarian tumors; and regular cervical disease screening for early detection of cervical cancer. However, to ensure a smooth gynecological examination, the following things should be done before the examination: 1. Do not perform vaginal irrigation: the best time for irrigation is three days before the examination, but most doctors are not in favor of irrigation, because it can flush out some beneficial bacteria that can prevent infection. 2. Use a condom during intercourse the day before the test: semen can flow into the sample taken, thus covering abnormal cells. 3. Do not use vaginal medications: such as medications for vaginal infections, lubricants or spermicidal creams, which can affect the biopsy sample and cover abnormal cells. In addition, when performing vaginal and pelvic examinations, they can prevent the doctor from seeing what is going on inside. 4. Be prepared to ask questions: Experts advise patients to think of all the questions they want to ask and to be straightforward, not to beat around the bush and not to avoid the doctor.
