How long does it take for the liver to recover after a liver puncture

How long it takes for the liver to recover after a liver puncture depends mainly on the patient’s specific situation and cannot be generalized. The purpose of liver puncture is mainly to clarify the cause of the damage to the liver and usually does not cause secondary damage to the liver, much less aggravate the condition. Patients should be absolutely bedridden for 24 hours after the liver puncture, and after 24 hours of bedridden patients can get up for indoor activities. After liver puncture biopsy, patients may experience localized pain, including discomfort at the biopsy site, pain radiating to the right shoulder, and transient epigastric pain, which usually recovers with about a week of rest. The recovery time varies from patient to patient if the patient has adverse complications such as local pain, bleeding, spread of the tumor, bile leakage or penetration of the gallbladder. Patients should be closely observed after hepatic puncture, with absolute bed rest for 4-6 hours, regular measurement of blood pressure and pulse, and attention to any internal bleeding and pneumothorax. Patients should move slowly after getting up and notify the doctor immediately for examination if there is any discomfort.
