The cost of surgery for thyroid nodules is around $10,000-15,000. Benign nodules are usually thyroid adenoma and nodular goiter, while malignant nodules are mainly thyroid cancer. For large benign nodules with pressure symptoms or pain, surgery is usually performed to remove the thyroid gland on one side of the lesion, while the thyroid gland on the other side can be preserved and the lymph nodes in the neck do not need to be cleared. In case of malignant thyroid nodules, both thyroid glands should be removed at the same time, and then the lymph nodes on the side of the tumor should be cleared, usually from the sixth and seventh regions, and if there are enlarged lymph nodes in the third, fourth or second region as indicated by preoperative ultrasound, they should be cleared during the surgery.
