Sweating that is not related to climate, exercise, emotion or medicine is mostly due to the imbalance of yin and yang of the body, the disharmony of Ying and Wei, and the unfavorable opening and closing of the couples. Su Wen – Yin and Yang, said: “Yang added to Yin is called sweating.” Suwen – Commentary on fever says: “If yin is deficient, yang will come together with it, so the less qi when hot and sweating.” There are various classifications of sweating, according to the amount of sweating, can be divided into large sweating, micro sweating. The amount of sweating is more than just sweating, called big sweat; sweating less, continuous, called micro sweating. The sweating sensation can be classified as spontaneous sweating and night sweating. The sweating is not due to labor, the weather is too hot, and sweating, moving is more, known as self-sweating, mostly by the Yang deficiency, the surface of the guard is not solid; night sweating refers to sweating after sleep, sweating after waking up, mostly by Yin deficiency, Yin does not converge Yang, sweat with Yang leak. According to the classification of parts, it can be divided into head sweat, heart sweat, half body sweat, hand and foot sweat. There are also some special sweating, such as absolute sweating (also called dehiscence), yellow sweating, war sweating, etc. The absolute sweating refers to the evidence of sweating more than once, or sweating like oil, cold limbs and little breath. Yellow sweat and war sweat are special symptoms of external heat illness. Common symptoms] Sun surface deficiency: sweating all over the body, combined with fever and vicious wind, head and neck surge, nasal congestion, thin white fur, floating and slow pulse. Yangming heat: sweating all over the body, more sweat, strong heat or hot flashes, thirsty for cold drinks, red face, red tongue with yellow coating, large and strong pulse. Summer heat injury: sweating all over the body, frequent and incessant, combined with irritability and thirst, stuffiness in the chest and diaphragm, thirst for drinks, weakness, tiredness and fatigue, red tongue, yellow moss, large and weak or moist pulse. Damp-heat cross-steaming: sweating all over the body, head or hands and feet, sticky and bitter in the mouth, thirsty and not wanting to drink, unrestrained body heat, sleepy and irritable limbs, stuffy and dull stomach, unfavorable urination, red tongue with yellowish coating, smooth and counted pulse. Yin deficiency fire: sweating all over the body when sleeping and stop sweating when waking up, or sweating in the heart and chest, hands and feet, combined with false sleeplessness, five heartburn, hot flashes and red cheekbones, or palpitations, cough and asthma, soreness and weakness of the waist and knees, etc., with a red tongue and little coating and a fine pulse. Human sweating is very related to environmental conditions such as temperature. Modern health care medicine classifies human sweating into non-significant sweating and effective sweating. When the temperature is lower than 20 degrees Celsius, people in a resting state will also sweat, but this sweat is very small, the body does not feel out, so called the non-significant sweat; and when the body is in a state of activity or the temperature is higher than 25 degrees Celsius, the proportion of non-significant sweat is not large, in order to dissipate heat, the body will be dissipated through the discharge and evaporation of sweat in the form of heat, this sweat is easy to feel out, so called effective sweat. So sweating is an important function of the human body to regulate body temperature and maintain a stable body temperature. It is important to note that the amount of sweating in a healthy human body is not only related to the temperature and activity, but also closely related to the wind, humidity, air pressure and other meteorological factors. When the temperature is high and the humidity is low, the human body is most likely to sweat a lot; conversely, when the wind speed is low, humidity and air pressure are high, even if the temperature is high, the human body will not sweat well, in such cases, people are more likely to get heatstroke. The ability to sweat is often a predictor of recovery from illness. For example, some people who occasionally get a cold wind always lie in bed after drinking ginger soup and cover themselves with quilts, and once they sweat, they basically get better. This is because the cold cold people, sweat glands by the cold and blocked, can not sweat in the way heat, resulting in an increase in body temperature; drink soup cover quilt, sweat glands due to heat and stretch, thus discharging sweat, emitting body heat, lower body temperature, can really be called “sweat to the disease”. The amount of sweating or not, also directly affects human health. Generally speaking, the summer heat, sweating a little more is normal, but if sweating too much, it is not good for health. Excessive sweating can cause the flow of human blood circulation to decrease, the circulation becomes slower, making the body’s heat dissipation tends to decrease, which leads to an increase in body temperature. A lot of sweating can also cause the body to lose salt and cause heat cramps in cells due to sodium deficiency. Therefore, people should take fluids and proper salt in time during summer. Our traditional medical book “Nei Jing” also lists many examples of diseases diagnosed by “sweating”. For example, patients with thirst (i.e. diabetes) sweat less but urinate more; patients with liver dropsy (i.e. liver cirrhosis) sweat yellow and slightly fishy; elderly people sweat half of their bodies as a precursor to stroke; people with weak constitution tend to sweat during sleep; and sweating after a high fever often leads to a drop in body temperature and cold syncope of the extremities.
