Which hepatitis B patients need antiviral treatment

Patients with Hepatitis B major triple positive (i.e. surface antigen positive, e antigen positive, core antibody positive) need antiviral treatment if the transaminase is elevated more than 2 times the upper limit of normal value, and HBV-DNA>2.0E5 copies/ml. Patients with Hepatitis B minor triple positive (i.e. surface antigen positive, e antibody positive, core antibody positive) need antiviral treatment if the transaminase is elevated more than 2 times the upper limit of the normal value, and HBV-DNA>2.0E4 copies/ml. Patients with hepatitis B cirrhosis need antiviral therapy as long as HBV-DNA is detectable.
