How to relieve acute gout

The joint pain caused by acute gout is very intense and has a great impact on the life and work of the patient. Therefore, acute gout attacks should be treated by rapidly relieving joint swelling and pain and preventing recurrent attacks, and commonly used drugs include non-steroidal anti-inflammatory analgesics such as etoricoxib and celecoxib, or colchicine and glucocorticoids. Patients with acute gout need absolute bed rest and avoid moving the affected joints as much as possible. Ice is a method to relieve joint swelling and pain during acute gout attacks, which can slow down local blood flow to the diseased joints and reduce the inflammatory response. However, ice therapy should be carried out at the early stage of acute gout onset, and it is not easy to apply ice for too long, nor should ice be applied repeatedly, nor should it replace conventional drug therapy. Acute gout patients should ensure that they drink enough water every day, because drinking a lot of water can dilute the concentration of uric acid salts in the blood, but also help accelerate the body’s blood flow and promote uric acid excretion. Drinking water should be mainly plain water or soda, which can alkalize urine, promote uric acid excretion and lower blood uric acid levels. Patients in the acute gout phase must go to the hospital in time to improve the relevant aspects of treatment, actively cooperate with the treatment and maintain a good state of mind.
