High purine diet is one of the main causes of gout, and all foods with high purine content should be avoided by gout patients. Currently, food can be classified as high, medium or low purine food based on the purine content per 100g of a certain food, where 100 to 1000mg of purine per 100g of food is called high purine food. Animal offal, such as liver, kidney, heart, brain, etc., thick meat soup, sea cents, such as wind-tailed fish, sardines, fish eggs, small shrimp, etc. are all high purine foods, which should be avoided by gout patients. Each 100g of food containing 75 to 100mg of purine is called medium purine food. Pork, beef, duck, pigeon, carp, cod, sea bass, pike, lentils, shiitake mushrooms, nuts, tofu, etc. are all medium purine foods and should be eaten by gout patients in a restricted manner according to their blood uric acid levels. Foods containing less than 75mg of purine per 100g of food are called low purine foods. Most vegetables, fruits, rice, noodles, dairy products, etc. are low purine foods and can be eaten by gout patients. Since alcohol can interfere with uric acid metabolism, gout patients should abstain from alcohol, whether it is beer, white wine or yellow wine. Studies have also shown that sweet drinks rich in fructose and colas can also interfere with uric acid metabolism, and gout patients should reduce their consumption. Therefore, the diet of gout patients should be based on a low purine diet, avoiding high purine foods, restricting the consumption of moderate purine foods, and abstaining from alcohol.
