How long does it take for a young person to go blind from macular degeneration

If a young patient develops macular degeneration, how long it takes to go blind needs to be determined by the patient’s condition and the patient’s physical condition, and cannot be generalized. If macular degeneration is left untreated in young patients, it will lead to retinal atrophy, which may lead to blindness usually after 3 months. Depending on the patient’s condition, if the degree of macular degeneration is relatively mild, treatment can effectively slow down the process of blindness. For some patients with severe disease, the macular degeneration can be controlled through surgery. Therefore, once you have macular degeneration, it is recommended to consult an ophthalmologist as early as possible without delay, because the golden period for treatment of macular degeneration is 3 months after the onset of the disease, so as not to delay the best treatment time. It is recommended that patients should eat more food that is good for the eyes, avoid contact with harmful substances such as rays, keep a relaxed mood, light diet and insist on regular eye massage.
