Buddha said, “The greatest enemy in life is yourself.” In our life, we will encounter all kinds of enemies and all kinds of difficulties. However, these are not the biggest enemies on our way. People’s biggest enemy is themselves, if they can not transcend themselves, then it is impossible to go all out to achieve their dreams. The hesitation in handling things, or over-estimation of their own, and thus arrogance; or excessive worship of others, and thus inferiority. Those who can overcome their ego will be invincible and invincible in battle. Beyond the ego, life will be able to reopen a new page. In ancient times, there was a monk who was devoted to Buddha – Wisdom. However, what he could not figure out was that, for some reason, every time he meditated, a crow would appear in front of his eyes, flying around and making trouble with him, so that he could not quietly meditate. Monk Mingzhi was so distressed that he asked the Grandmaster for advice on how to get rid of it: “Master, whenever I meditate, a crow comes and disturbs me, and no matter how I drive it away, I cannot get rid of it, so please guide me.” Hearing this, the Grandmaster said very calmly, “At the next time of meditation, you can do this, take a pen, wait until the crow appears, draw a circle on its belly to see what monster is obstructing you, and I can clear the evil thing in front of you.” Monk Mingzhi followed his master’s guidance and prepared a red pen when he was in meditation, and as soon as the crow appeared, he drew a circle on its body quickly. The crow was frightened and fled in haste, and the wise monk soon settled down. When he was out of time, but found that his stomach actually has a large red circle! The party suddenly realized that what was blocking him was not a monster, but his own mind’s demon. People often like to forget about me at all times, and the most important thing for practitioners is to forget about themselves, because the word “me” is the root cause of all misfortunes and calamities for themselves and others, and there is nothing better than a calm and excellent mind. From the moment we are born, we are moving towards death day by day. The moment any endeavor reaches its peak, it begins to go downhill. When you win back-to-back, setbacks may be waiting for you. When you are intoxicated with happiness, what awaits you may be misfortune. Lao Tzu said, “Self-knowledge means clarity; self-victory means strength.” Wang Tong, a Sui Dynasty thinker, said, “The self-knowledge is Ying, and the self-survival is Xiong.” Human beings are in the process of constantly discovering their weaknesses and shortcomings, and thus constantly overcoming themselves and transcending themselves to make progress. And in the process of striving for one’s dream, one is bound to give one’s all and go through the process of forgetting oneself and transcending oneself.
