Will rheumatic fever heal on its own?

A small percentage of rheumatic fever can heal on its own, but if the patient is clearly diagnosed with rheumatic fever, active application of medication is recommended. Because the prognosis of rheumatic fever is poor if it involves the heart, early treatment can improve this prognosis. Patients with rheumatic drugs involving the heart may not have any conscious symptoms, but only abnormalities detected by electrocardiogram or cardiac ultrasound, and blood tests. If the patient does not intervene in the early stages of this subclinical form of carditis, or if the patient is not treated to prevent streptococcal reinfection at a later stage, there is a risk of streptococcal reinfection, recurrent attacks, and eventual prolongation leading to serious complications such as chronic valvular heart disease, or chronic heart failure. The rheumatic fever can be self-healing is generally seen in patients with rheumatoid arthritis, mainly arthritic involvement, joint symptoms can disappear on their own, but patients still need to pay attention to secondary prevention to avoid reoccurrence of streptococcal infection.
