2012-09-11 Editor: International Medical Press Keywords: Urology Recently, the Chinese Journal of Men’s Science published a multi-center research article pointed out that: natural vitamin E (Vit E) as an adjuvant for idiopathic oligozoospermia is safe and effective, and it can improve the concentration of spermatozoa and the proportion of forward moving spermatozoa, which can help to increase the number of women’s natural conception. Wang Yanbin, Department of Urology, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine, conducted a multicenter, prospective, randomized controlled, observational study in which a total of 106 cases were enrolled from January to April 2011, among which 64 cases of oligozoospermia and 42 cases of spermatospermia were enrolled, and all of them were combined with the adjuvant therapy of Vit E on the basis of treatment of the control group. Sperm concentration, proportion of forward-moving spermatozoa, and natural fertilization of spouses were observed and analyzed in semen analysis before and 3 months after the use of the drug. RESULTS: Among the patients with oligospermia, there was no significant difference in sperm concentration and improvement before and after medication between the control group and the study group, and the rate of spontaneous fertilization in the female partner was significantly higher in the study group than in the control group (6 and 0 cases). In patients with weak spermatozoa, there was no significant difference in the proportion of forward-moving spermatozoa between the control group and the study group before the use of the drug; at the end of the drug treatment, the improvement in the proportion of forward-moving spermatozoa and the rate of female spontaneous fertilization in the study group were significantly better than those in the control group.
