Are you a potential osteoporosis patient? The following one-minute self-test is recommended by the International Osteoporosis Foundation, please answer “yes” or “no”. 1. Have either of your parents ever had a hip fracture from a minor bump or fall? Do you often take hormonal drugs such as cortisone and prednisone for more than 3 months in a row? 4. Have you lost 3 cm in height? 5. Do you often drink too much alcohol (more than the safe limit)? Have you ever had no menstruation for more than 12 consecutive months (except during pregnancy)? If you answered “yes” to some or all of these questions, you may be at risk for osteoporosis, but this does not prove that you have osteoporosis. A bone density test by a medical professional is needed to determine if you have this condition, and it is easy to diagnose and treat.
