Neonatal hemolytic disease can be healed in a few days

How long it takes to recover from neonatal hemolysis is related to the specific condition of the child and cannot be generalized. Neonatal hemolytic disease is an immune hemolysis caused by maternal-infant blood group incompatibility, and the common types are ABO hemolysis and RH hemolysis, which is usually more severe in RH blood group incompatibility. Mild hemolysis can lead to mild anemia and jaundice, and as the condition worsens, it can cause severe anemia, heart failure, bilirubin encephalopathy and other adverse consequences, and even endanger the life of the child. Mild cases can be treated with blue light irradiation, medication, and gammaglobulin for immune blockade to reduce the disease and thus shorten the hospital stay. For severe cases, blood exchange therapy is required and the course of treatment is relatively long. In addition, both spouses should undergo blood group testing before pregnancy to prevent neonatal hemolytic disease by taking early treatment if there are risk factors for blood group incompatibility.
