Hyperthyroidism is an increase in the concentration of thyroid hormones in the blood due to various causes. There are many causes of hyperthyroidism, including thyroid nodules with hyperthyroidism, thyroid adenoma with hyperthyroidism, toxic diffuse goiter with hyperthyroidism, thyroiditis with hyperthyroidism, and hypothalamic pituitary hyperthyroidism. Toxic diffuse goiter, also known as GRAVES disease, is also the cause of hyperthyroidism. The differences between toxic diffuse goiter and hyperthyroidism are as follows: i. Toxic diffuse goiter is one of the most common causes of hyperthyroidism. Second, toxic diffuse goiter, in addition to the typical hypermetabolic syndrome of hyperthyroidism, also has diffuse goiter and proptosis, or even severe infiltrative proptosis. Third, in patients with toxic diffuse goiter, specific antibodies, namely thyrotropin receptor antibodies, TRAb, can be detected in the blood.
