Chinese medicine’s understanding of the etiology and pathogenesis of precocious puberty in children

According to Chinese medicine, the causes of precocious puberty in children are mainly related to congenital deficiencies in endowment and lack of nurturing in later life. The term “Tian Kuei” was first mentioned in “Su Wen – Shang Gu Tian Zhen Lun” in Huang Di Nei Jing, which means the substance that can promote the maturation of human reproductive organs and maintain reproductive function when the essence in human kidney is full to a certain degree. The word “Tian” means that it originates from the first Heaven, and the word “Kuei” means that it belongs to the essence of the earth stem, which means the yin of the yang. Because the mature Tian Kui has the role of promoting the maturation of reproductive organs, therefore, when the development of Tian Kui is mature, the secondary sexual characteristics of both men and women will begin to develop and gradually manifest, for example, women’s subcutaneous fat began to deposit and breast augmentation, and will appear on time ovulation phenomenon, that is, “the monthly events to time”; men are manifested as the voice gradually For men, the voice becomes thicker and thicker, hair and throat knots appear, and “essence overflows”. At this time, both males and females have the ability to bear children, and if “Yin and Yang are in harmony, they can have children. According to the clinical manifestations of precocious puberty in children, true precocious puberty is classified as “premature onset of Tianji”. As early as in the Su Wen – Shang Gu Tian Zhen Lun, there is a description of the important role played by the kidney essence in the human body and reproduction, growth and development: “The woman is seven years old, the kidney energy is strong, the teeth more hair long; two seven years and the sky sap to, the Ren vein is open, the Tai Chong vein is strong, the menstruation to the time, so there are children ……. The husband is eight years old, the kidney qi real, teeth more hair long; two eight, the kidney qi Sheng, the day has “liver often have surplus, but the kidney often deficient” characteristics. The clinical pathology will also show the manifestation of yin and yang imbalance as well as liver and kidney deficiency. For example, the “Shen’s Women’s Science Series Paper Zheng – Jing Shui” says: “The two seventh period of movement, seven seventh period of stopping, said its normal, but the endowment is not enough, movement and stopping are not a certain wait.” This means that children are infantile yin and yang, on the one hand, when they are deficient, it is easy to cause the imbalance of yin and yang, which leads to hyperactivity of kidney yang and deficiency of kidney water, so that girls will have irregular menstruation and early onset of menstruation, thus causing the characteristics of puberty to appear earlier. This is due to the malfunctioning of the kidneys and the dereliction of the function of regulating the reproductive organs, which is known as “precocious puberty” in modern medicine. Precocious puberty mostly originates from the liver and kidneys, with imbalance of yin and yang of the kidneys, exuberant liver fire and phlegm-damp stagnation as the main pathogenesis. The kidneys are the foundation of the innate nature, and they are the main reservoir of yin and yang. This will not only fail to enhance the physical fitness of children, but may lead to excessive supplementation and fire, which will consume yin essence, resulting in deficiency of kidney yin and insufficient control of kidney yang, and delusional movement of phase fire, which will eventually lead to imbalance of the ramifications and premature maturation of heavenly sap, leading to both “precocious puberty The “premature sexual maturity”. The meridian system of the human body is intricate and complex, and functionally interconnected, as an organic whole. The meridians of the liver and kidney are also intertwined with each other and functionally interconnected. The liver and kidney are of the same origin, the liver is the main drainage and the kidney is the main essence collector, and the functions of the liver and kidney are coordinated with each other. In the case of kidney water deficiency, water does not contain wood, which will cause the liver’s drainage ability to decrease, and emotional stimulation can also cause the liver qi to stagnate and turn into fire, and the dysfunction of drainage can cause the development of Tian Kui to advance and cause “precocious puberty”. The breast is the place where the liver meridian travels, and the liver meridian wraps around the yin organ, so the most obvious feature of precocious puberty in girls is the bulging of the breast with hard nodes. The reason for this symptom is that liver fire is hyperactive, and the phlegm that is generated by the frying of fluid is condensed in the breasts, leading to the enlargement of the nucleus pulposus. Phlegm flowing downward will make the leucorrhea sticky. The liver fire is hyperactive, making the sea of blood float, and the early arrival of the “heavenly decay” makes the woman’s menstrual flow. The pathogenesis of precocious puberty in children lies in the kidney and is associated with the liver and spleen.] The child’s infantile yin and yang constitution determines /],JL the tendency to have a deficiency of kidney water, water does not contain wood, which leads to a deficiency of liver yin. Because the liver is the main sparing and discharge, and the kidney is the main seal, the liver and kidney function is insufficient, the spreading function decreases, blocking the qi flow, the impulse is out of balance, the breast meridian is blocked, resulting in breast pain. The liver disease can also affect the spleen, and the spleen’s function of transporting and transforming the spleen can be disrupted, resulting in dampness and phlegm, which can accumulate in the breast complex for a long time and form lumps. It is also believed that precocious puberty is caused by the liver and kidney. In short, imbalance of kidney yin and yang is the root of the disease, while liver fire, phlegm and dampness cohesion, and floating sea of blood are the symptoms of the disease. ———————— article from the Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine ————————————
