The six functions of the liver

1.Production and secretion of bile The liver converts hemoglobin from the hemoglobin in aging red blood cells into bilirubin, which is secreted into bile. 600~1000ml of bile is continuously secreted from the liver daily, which flows from the bile duct into the duodenum to help fat digestion as well as absorption of fat-soluble vitamins A, D, E and K. Once bilirubin is not properly produced and excreted in the liver, it will accumulate in the blood and the skin will turn yellow, i.e. jaundice. 2, metabolic function We eat a lot of food every day, all need to be processed in the liver first, into the nutrients that the body needs, and then for life activities required. Without the hard work of the liver, other organs of the body will be “starved”. 3, detoxification function The liver is the body’s main detoxification organ, can make toxic substances into non-toxic or soluble substances, with bile or urine excretion. Whether food or drugs, are inevitably “toxic”, once the liver detoxification ability is reduced, the consequences will be unimaginable. 4, phagocytosis and immune function The liver is the body’s largest defense organ, with a strong team of “health guards” to protect health through phagocytosis, isolation and digestion of invasive and endogenous pathogens. This is the reason why people with poor liver function are susceptible to many diseases. 5. Blood clotting If you accidentally bleed from a skin injury, the liver makes clotting substances that form clots in the bleeding area to stop the bleeding. The liver is the site of synthesis or production of many clotting substances. Imagine the consequences of a faulty liver where the blood cannot clot. 6, regulate the amount of blood circulation normal liver venous sinus can store a certain amount of blood, in the body blood loss, from the liver venous sinus discharge more blood, to compensate for the lack of blood circulation around. So the liver is also a small blood bank of the body.
