The management of Yin deficiency and internal heat in children needs to be divided into different organs such as heart, liver, kidney, lungs and stomach for identification and treatment of Yin. 1. Deficiency of Yin in the heart: palpitations and anxiety (intense heartbeat, panic and restlessness), false annoyance (annoyance caused by heat in the body), insomnia, fatigue (lack of mental energy), forgetfulness, or dreaming, heat in the hands, feet and heart, red tongue with little moss, and a fine pulse (the pulse becomes narrower and finer, and the rate is accelerated). For treatment, it is necessary to nourish yin and blood, tonify the heart and tranquilize the mind, which can be treated with the addition or subtraction of Tianwang Xinzhu Dan. 2. Yin deficiency of the liver and kidney: soreness and weakness of the waist and knees, dizziness, blurred vision, tinnitus and deafness, night sweating (abnormal sweating after going to sleep, but sweating stops after waking up), thirst, warmth of the hands and feet, dryness of the tongue and sore throat, as well as children’s fontanel irregularities, red tongue with little moss, and a fine pulse. For treatment, nourishing yin and tonifying the kidneys is needed, and can be treated by adding and subtracting Liu Wei Di Huang Wan. 3. Lung Yin deficiency: dry throat and mouth, or body heat, or dry cough, red tongue with little moss, and fine pulse. For treatment, it is necessary to clear and nourish the lung and stomach, and to promote the production of fluids and moisturize the dryness, which can be treated with the addition or subtraction of Sha Shen Maidong Tang. 4. Deficiency of stomach yin (insufficient yin fluid in the stomach): hunger, dry mouth and pharynx, dry stools, red tongue with little moss, and fine pulse. For treatment, yin should be nourished to benefit the stomach, and Yi Stomach Tang with additional subtractions should be given. Children with Yin deficiency may also have other conditions. It is recommended to go to a regular hospital as soon as possible to clarify the cause of the disease and treat it under the guidance of a doctor. Self-diagnosis is not recommended to avoid delaying the condition.
