Does glomerulonephritis affect life expectancy?

Glomerulonephritis, can be divided into three categories: acute glomerulonephritis, chronic glomerulonephritis, and acute glomerulonephritis.1 Most patients with acute glomerulonephritis have a tendency to heal themselves and do not affect their life expectancy.2 Chronic glomerulonephritis is a condition that persists and eventually progresses slowly to reach chronic renal failure. However, the rate of progression of chronic glomerulonephritis may vary more individually. It is mainly related to the different types of kidney disease that are important, but also to whether the patients are properly treated to protect their kidneys, and whether they avoid deteriorating factors. Therefore some patients may progress to renal failure after a few years, while others may progress to renal failure decades later.3. Patients with acute glomerulonephritis are more severely ill and have a higher death rate. Some patients with acute progressive glomerulonephritis may die in a short period of time.
