Reference cholesterol levels in foods

  Daily food cholesterol content
Cholesterol is found in nature mainly in animal foods and is not found in plants. Cholesterol has a wide range of physiological roles in the body, but when in excess it can lead to hypercholesterolemia, which is closely related to the development of diseases such as atherosclerosis, venous thrombosis and cholelithiasis. A more normal cholesterol level in human blood is between 2.1 and 5.1 mmol/L. It is recommended to consume no more than 300 mg of cholesterol per day.
