Manifestations of Major Depressive Disorder

The manifestations of major depression are divided into core and additional symptoms. Core symptoms refer to depressed mood, diminished interest, and decreased energy, which are the three main factors missing. Additional symptoms include psychomotor retardation, such as decreased energy, stamina, and brain power, slower and slower reactions, distracted attention, and decreased appetite. There can also be sleep disturbances, difficulty falling asleep or waking early, and possibly increased sleep, as well as negative thoughts such as self-blame, pessimism, and guilt. Based on the above negative thoughts, suicidal thoughts and suicidal behavior will also occur. Basically, all of the above characteristics will be present and will have a great impact on the patient’s life.
