How syphilis is transmitted

I believe that many people are not unfamiliar with syphilis, I do not know how many people are being persecuted by syphilis every year, according to WHO estimates, there are about 12 million new cases each year, we only understand the transmission of syphilis to better protect themselves to protect others. The following is a detailed introduction to the sources of syphilis syphilis is a unique human disease, dominant and recessive syphilis patients are the source of infection, the first 2 years after infection is the most infectious, 2 years later basically not through sexual transmission. Syphilis can be transmitted to the fetus through the placenta, and there is still a risk of transmission to the fetus 2 years after infection. The transmission routes of syphilis are divided into the following: a. Blood-borne transmission The course of syphilis is long and the syphilis spirochete can be latent in the patient’s blood for a period of time. Especially the latent syphilis patients, although the body is infected with the pathogen but can be no clinical manifestations, healthy people or patients with various other diseases imported by their blood or blood products, it can make the recipient of blood infected with syphilis. Second, indirect contact transmission Contact with syphilis patients used things, such as the patient’s clothes, bedding, items, supplies, utensils, toilets, toilets and bath towels, etc., may be contaminated by the patient’s secretions and infected with syphilis pale spirochetes. Even healthy people who live closely with syphilis patients can easily get infected with syphilis when minor wounds come in contact with these items contaminated with pathogenic bacteria. If a pregnant woman is infected with syphilis, the fetus can be infected with syphilis through the placenta during pregnancy. If a pregnant woman is suffering from syphilis, without timely detection and treatment, or incomplete treatment, syphilis pale spirochetes can be transmitted to the fetus through the blood circulation of the placenta, so that the fetus is infected with syphilis. Placental transmission occurs mainly in pregnant women with early syphilis. Fourth, sexual contact transmission More than 90% of clinical syphilis is transmitted through sexual contact with syphilis patients. Sexual contact includes sexual intercourse, passionate kissing, and embracing by physical contact. As the human genital area of the skin mucosa is thin, rich in blood vessels, sex is in a state of extreme congestion, sexual friction can cause subtle damage, creating the conditions for the invasion of syphilis pale spirochetes. Fifth, the birth canal transmission When the fetus passes through the birth canal infected with syphilis, the syphilis pale spirochetes in the birth canal area can be infected to the fetus, resulting in the newborn infected with syphilis and disease. Warm tips Early acquired syphilis patients, 95% is transmitted through unclean conjugal life, a few through kissing, shaking hands, blood transfusion, contact with contaminated underwear, wet towels, teacups, pipes, breastfeeding, diapers and other infections. So good personal hygiene and cleanliness is the main way to prevent syphilis.
