Lamotrigine is an anticonvulsant that is also commonly used clinically as a mood stabilizer. Its indications mainly include bipolar I disorder (that is, patients with depressive episodes and manic episodes), in addition to the treatment of bipolar depression; also as a combination drug for the treatment of bipolar mania, schizophrenia, and major depressive disorder; in addition to neuropathic pain, chronic pain, and some psychiatric disorders can also use lamotrigine. Lamotrigine is still very effective in treating bipolar depression, but it often takes several weeks to improve bipolar depression; and its effect of mood stabilization may take several weeks or even months to take effect, so it must be used consistently.
