Food poisoning diarrhea and water usually improves in about 3 days, sometimes up to 1-2 weeks.
Gastrointestinal food poisoning is a group-onset, acute gastroenteritis as the main manifestation of food poisoning caused mainly by the consumption of unclean food, and is generally not contagious. Commonly infected bacteria include Salmonella, Vibrio parahaemolyticus, Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus and so on.
Patients often present with vomiting and diarrhea, abdominal pain and bloating. It may be accompanied by systemic symptoms such as fever, malaise, poor spirit, and low urine output. The duration of illness is mostly 1-3 days. The duration of S. aureus food poisoning is as short as a few hours and as long as 1-2 days. Salmonella food poisoning can last for 3-5 days, occasionally 1-2 weeks.
