In patients with latent syphilis, there are no obvious clinical manifestations after infection. In the case of acquired syphilis, the first stage of syphilis does have some early manifestations, but it is not a red spot on the glans, the typical manifestation is usually a hard chancre. In men, the hard chancre is usually likely to occur on the penis, glans and foreskin. The typical presentation starts as a small red spot, but it rapidly turns into a painless inflammatory papule, and within a few days the papule becomes larger, harder, and has a necrotic surface, which then forms a painless ulcer. The ulcers have clear borders, are edematous and clearly elevated, and look like bones to the touch, with a sticky discharge on the surface.
