During the Long-Term Liver Transplant Survival Seminar held in Qingdao in July this year, I spoke with John Fang about the longest surviving liver transplant patient in the world who is now more than 42 years old, whose primary disease was a child with congenital biliary tract disease, and who is now in good health, married and with children, by Thomas Starzl, the father of liver transplantation. In an interview last year, Thomas Starzl also spoke about the number of patients who are currently more than 35 years old. The number of patients who have survived more than 10 years of liver transplantation in China is gradually increasing, and there are about 30 patients in our center who have survived 10 years with good liver function.
