China is a big country with hepatitis B. For a long time, due to the lack of awareness and popularization of science, people infected with hepatitis B virus are discriminated against in education, employment and all aspects of life, and endure great ideological pressure. Many infected people with “poison” like a tiger, dreaming of one day completely free from the virus “entanglement”, ready to get rid of it. Because of this, some people with ulterior motives take advantage of this mentality of the patients and fabricate all kinds of “special effect therapies” and “panacea”, which cheat the patients’ money and even cause delay in their condition. Infectious diseases, hepatology, Baiqiu’en International Peace Hospital, Kang Fu-biao Admittedly, the ultimate goal of hepatitis B treatment is to completely eliminate the virus, but the current development of science and technology can not yet fully meet our wishes. Therefore, China’s Guidelines for the Prevention and Treatment of Chronic Hepatitis B clearly state that the overall goal of chronic hepatitis B treatment at this stage is to maximize long-term suppression or elimination of HBV, reduce hepatocellular inflammation and necrosis and hepatic fibrosis, slow down and stop the progression of the disease, and reduce and prevent the incidence of hepatic decompensation, cirrhosis, HCC and its complications, thus improving the quality of life and prolonging the survival time. Currently there are only two methods of antiviral treatment for chronic hepatitis B: interferon and nucleoside (acid) analogs. The former includes short-acting and long-acting interferons, and the latter includes lamivudine, telbivudine, adefovir, entecavir, and tenofovir, which has not yet been marketed in China. No matter which kind of drugs, there are strict indications, and should be applied under the guidance of experienced liver disease specialists, blindly using drugs will only be “counterproductive”. However, around us, there are still all kinds of “Hepatitis B” advertisements, weaving a lie with gorgeous rhetoric and attractive promises. According to the author’s investigation, more than 40% of the Shijiazhuang area patients in our hospital in the process of seeking medical treatment have ever been unable to resist the “temptation” and the experience of being cheated. So, how to recognize these seemingly “real” lies? Then we have to see how these advertisements are deceiving people. First, blindly exaggerated efficacy. Currently, the standard course of interferon antiviral therapy for chronic hepatitis B patients is one year, and the sustained response rate is about 30-50%, while nucleoside antiviral drugs require a longer course of treatment. Some of the false medical advertisements have seized the patients’ mentality and put up the signboards of “short, simple and fast”, promising high effective rate and high conversion rate, which is indeed very eye-catching. For example, a website claims that the new treatment for hepatitis B has an efficiency rate of 100%, a cure rate of 95%, and that the virus can be converted in 3 months, and a lot of people have taken the bait with an attitude of trying it out. Second, the use of individual cases for publicity, and even the use of “child care” for false propaganda. Chronic hepatitis B, even without treatment, has a natural conversion rate of about 0.5%, while more than 95% of acute hepatitis B can be cured without antivirus. False advertisements are good at using one or several patients to carry out extremely sensational publicity, often combined with their own fortunate or unfortunate experience, tearful, and easy to move people’s hearts. What’s more, some of the “cases” are completely false, relying on fabricated stories to deceive the patient’s trust. Third, the title of high-tech words pretend to be cutting-edge technology. Many false liver disease advertisements use the so-called gene therapy, DNA technology, hepatocyte dialysis therapy, nanotechnology, electromagnetic pulse technology, stem cell technology and other new terms, and even claim that they are the latest therapies widely used in Europe and the United States. In fact, these so-called “technology” and none of the application to the field of hepatitis B treatment, and even some of them have nothing to do with the treatment of liver disease, pure fabrication. All the so-called technology with these “high hat”, without exception, are false advertisements. So beyond the pace of medical science, “new breakthroughs”, do not believe it. Fourth, under the guise of “public welfare” in the name of cheating money. Part of the medical advertisements under the guise of “helping the poor and needy”, “medical care in the countryside” and other names, claiming that the use of a certain therapy for the treatment of hepatitis B, the patient’s own half of the cost of subsidies for half of the medical unit, or even up to a few tens of thousands of dollars. It seems to be very attractive, but in fact, the cost of a certain therapy may only be a few hundred dollars or even less. Some advertisements promote medicines in the name of free medical checkups, introducing patients step by step into the “traps” that have been laid. Some advertisements are even publicized in the name of the Red Cross, a certain foundation, or a certain society, which is in fact a wolf in sheep’s clothing. Fifth, under the name of “Chinese medicine”. Traditional Chinese medicine is a traditional treasure of our country, and traditional Chinese medicines such as Schisandra chinensis, artichoke, licorice, Herba Euphrasiae, etc. and their extracts and compound preparations play a pivotal role in protecting the liver and liver protection. However, the anti-hepatitis B virus effect of Chinese medicine has not been found yet. Many medical advertisements claim that the use of pure Chinese medicinal preparations for the treatment of hepatitis B, without any toxic side effects, conversion rate and so on, for the people of the country who have a deep sense of traditional culture, has a full attraction. In fact, traditional Chinese medicine is not only ineffective against hepatitis B virus, and the application of traditional Chinese medicine is not uncommon in cases of severe drug hepatitis, the so-called “without any toxic side effects” is just a “beautiful lie”. What’s more, claiming that the ancestral recipe for the treatment of chronic hepatitis B, but do not know that the hepatitis B virus in the 1960s was Baruch Blumberg discovered, and now only more than 40 years, I do not know how the ancestors of this cure for “hepatitis B”, or is it possible that the “cross I don’t know how this ancestor cured “Hepatitis B”, is it possible that he has “crossed over”? Sixth, fake “awards”, “certificates”, to deceive patients trust. All false medical advertisements have a common feature, that is, with a lot of “international or national awards”, “a medical association or a certificate of accreditation” and other titles, and these awards or certified units often have a “Global “, “United Nations” or at least “national” title. When you carefully trace the words will find that these organizations do not exist. With these titles, naturally more fraudulent “capital”, but also deceive the majority of patients who do not know the inside story. Seventh, modify the test results to “improve” the efficacy of treatment. Patient Mr. Wang in a liver disease hospital used a called “hepatocyte dialysis” therapy, 1 month after the viral load from 10 to 7 times down to 3 times, “therapeutic effect” is remarkable. 10 days after Mr. Wang in another hospital again found that the viral load and 1 month ago, there is no difference. Ten days later, Mr. Wang was retested at another hospital and found that his viral load was the same as it had been one month earlier. By modifying the results of the “improved efficacy”, not only did not achieve the purpose of treatment, but also paralyzed the patient, lost the opportunity for treatment. In fact, hepatitis B is not scary, but the scary thing is to be cheated again and again in the wrong condition. Therefore, as a person infected with hepatitis B virus or even all of us, learn more about the science of hepatitis B, recognize it correctly, understand it, have more understanding and less worry. When you need treatment, please accept the guidance of regular liver disease specialists, face the reality and cope with it, I believe you will have a brighter tomorrow.
