Therapeutic physical exercise is no less important than medication

Ankylosing spondylitis is a chronic inflammatory disease that involves the spine, peripheral joints, and extra-articular tissues. Spinal ankylosis can occur in advanced stages and can seriously affect life. Reasonable exercise can exercise the spine function, delay the progression of spinal ossification and ankylosis, and is important to maintain the function of the body. General exercise During the active phase of the disease, such as severe low back pain and hip inflammation, most patients will find it difficult to move around. At this time, the main focus is on rest and recuperation, mainly medication to control disease activity, and you can stretch your body, turn your neck, and move your hands appropriately according to your ability. In the remission period, early patients can participate in non-weight-bearing or light-weight-bearing exercises, such as swimming, soft gymnastics, yoga, taijiquan, moderate sit-ups, etc. In the late stage, patients can do the above exercises according to their ability because their activities are limited, but they must pay attention to safety. Therapeutic physical exercise There are special nurses in our department to guide patients to do therapeutic physical exercise. Therapeutic physical exercise is the most important way to reduce or prevent deformity and disability, and it is as important as drug treatment. After the acute phase is controlled, therapeutic exercise training is started, and AS patients are provided with a manual rehabilitation guide, which follows the principles of gradual progress and combination of work and rest, and the exercise plan is formulated and rehabilitation gymnastics are demonstrated. For example, the neck and waist can be exercised in all directions, stand with legs in parallel when turning, cross the waist with both hands, turn left, backward, right and forward 50 times with the waist as the movement point, and then reverse 50 times to maintain the flexibility of the spine; do deep inhalation and chest expansion exercises l to 2 times / 01, 10 to 20 minutes; make some hip flexion, knee flexion, sit-ups and knee and ankle extension exercises for the limbs; when walking, try to When walking, try to straighten the spine and do back stretching exercises regularly. For the nine patients with mild flexion deformity of the spine and hip, the prone position was performed one to two times/d for 15-30 min/time, and the amount of activity each time was limited to not cause aggravation of joint symptoms the next day. After our careful guidance, all patients in this group have clarified the importance of therapeutic functional exercise and simple methods, and have developed the habit of daily exercise without complications. Contraindication Do not participate in sports with strong impact on the joints, explosive, high load, such as soccer, basketball, running, etc.. These sports can cause damage to the injured spine and hip joints, and late stage patients can suffer serious fractures due to improper exercise because of osteoporosis.
