How can sternal pain be treated?

Treatment of sternal pain is as follows.
Sternal pain is basically more serious except for mild pain due to external forces, and requires professional examination and treatment in hospital. If the pain is mild due to external forces and there are no other symptoms, it can usually recover on its own after proper rest, or appropriate local cold compresses can be applied. In the case of sternal fractures, or benign tumours, or non-specific costochondritis where malignancy cannot be excluded and where there are no contraindications to surgery, surgery can be performed depending on the patient’s condition. Sternal pain due to rheumatic diseases or malignant tumours needs to be treated accordingly to the cause, in addition to symptomatic treatment (e.g. use of painkillers, etc.).
