The following tests are required for sternal pain.
Sternal pain requires the doctor to determine the tests that need to be done based on a combination of the patient’s current medical history, past medical history, other symptoms, and physical signs. In general, the main tests are chest x-ray, chest CT, and endoscopy. A tumour biopsy may also be required if the tumour is confirmed. If there are also symptoms such as anaemia, fever and bleeding, a bone marrow image is also needed to determine if there is leukaemia.
