Recommendations for the diagnosis and treatment of gallbladder stones

Gallbladder stones are a common and frequent disease in hepatobiliary surgery. For patients with gallbladder stones, most of them usually do not show symptoms of discomfort, but are only found to have gallbladder stones during ultrasound examination during physical examination. Because of this, many asymptomatic patients think that they do not need to be diagnosed and treated, which is undesirable. Once a gallbladder stone is diagnosed, you should go to the hospital and consult a specialist about the condition. According to the principles of surgical treatment and my years of clinical experience in surgery, the following recommendations are made. If the patient has no obvious symptoms related to gallbladder irritation, such as epigastric discomfort, fullness, distension, colic, etc., and the size of the stone is below 1.0 cm, and the patient is under 50 years old, conservative treatment can be considered for the time being, with regular review of liver and gallbladder ultrasound such as once every six months. If the patient has symptoms related to gallbladder irritation as mentioned above, or has a history of recurrent gallbladder inflammation, or stones larger than 1.0 cm, etc., he should actively seek medical consultation and consider surgery. 3, If gallbladder stone patients combined with gallbladder atrophy, regardless of clinical manifestations, they should seek medical consultation and active surgical treatment as soon as possible to avoid gallbladder carcinogenesis and delayed treatment. 4, the gallbladder is an organ for temporary storage and concentration of liver bile, when there is stone formation, most patients have functional abnormalities in the gallbladder at the same time, so patients with gallbladder stones can have their gallbladder removed with little impact on normal human function; and after surgery, patients can resume their daily diet as soon as possible, such as eating eggs, meat, tofu, milk, etc. With the gradual development and increasing maturity of laparoscopic minimally invasive technology, laparoscopic cholecystectomy is less traumatic and painful for patients, with quick recovery and short hospitalization time, and patients benefit greatly. Therefore, for patients suffering from gallbladder stones, even if there are no clinical symptoms, they should go to the hospital in time and consult with experts to avoid delaying the disease and missing the opportunity of surgery.
