How long does it take to recover from severe fatty liver

There are individual differences in the recovery time of severe fatty liver. If strict control of diet, lifestyle habits and healthy exercise is carried out, weight can be reduced by more than 10% and recovery can be made in 6-9 months, while those with poor compliance have a longer recovery time and may even aggravate the condition. Severe fatty liver is defined as the accumulation of lipids in the liver of more than 20%, which may be related to poor living and eating habits, alcohol abuse, etc. When fatty liver recovers, the liver itself transfers the fat accumulated in the body to the outside of the liver. In the treatment, the cause of the disease should be clearly defined first, and treatment should be carried out for the cause before recovery is possible, such as adjusting the patient’s diet, quitting smoking and limiting alcohol, strengthening physical exercise, losing weight, etc., while taking lipid-lowering and enzyme-lowering drugs to protect the liver, and generally recovering health in 6-9 months. If the control is not good, the recovery time will be extended accordingly, and it may even progress to cirrhosis. During the treatment period, patients with severe fatty liver should undergo regular liver function and ultrasound review to dynamically monitor their recovery.
