Severe fatty liver can turn into liver cancer in a few years

In general, the incidence of liver cancer in fatty liver is not high, but if we do not pay attention to diet and do not take active prevention and treatment, there is a possibility of transforming into liver cancer after 15-20 years. Under normal circumstances, patients with fatty liver will not progress to liver cancer if they adopt methods such as adjusting their dietary habits and doing proper exercises. However, if the patient ignores it, the fatty liver may progress to liver cancer, which may take a longer period of time, usually at least 15-20 years. The progression of fatty liver into liver cancer is generally divided into three steps: if fatty liver is not controlled, 20%-30% of patients will be transformed into steatohepatitis; steatohepatitis will be transformed into cirrhosis, which may take up to 20 years; 10% of cirrhosis will be turned into liver cancer, but there is no exact point in clinical practice, and it depends on the specific situation of patients. In daily life, patients with fatty liver should pay attention to a diet with less oil and low fat, try not to smoke or drink alcohol, and at the same time do proper exercise, pay attention to the changes in their body and have regular reviews.
