Nowadays, many people who originally did not take psychological problems seriously have realized that they may have psychological disorders and have developed the desire to take the initiative to seek help from psychologists. However, many people still have some limitations on the understanding of psychological counseling, and even produce some misinterpretation, so that psychological problems can not be better solved. Psychological problems ≠ mental illness Psychological counseling in China is a late start of the emerging disciplines, people have a sense of mystery about it. Visitors are usually left and right, drummed up enough courage to walk into the clinic, in the doctor repeatedly to ensure that, before they are willing to pour out their sorrows; or a very big circle, before the real situation is exposed. Because in the eyes of many people, to consult the person is likely to have what is abnormal or mental illness, or else there is an unseemly privacy or moral character problems. In addition, in the traditional Chinese concept, showing emotional pain is a sign of weakness, especially for men. All of the above reasons, many people would rather suffer from mental pain, but do not want to or dare to come to the doctor. In fact, psychological problems and mental illness are two different concepts. Everyone in different stages of growth and different aspects of life and work, may encounter such and such problems, resulting in the emergence of negative emotions. If these problems can be solved in an appropriate way, the individual will be able to develop smoothly and healthily; if they cannot be dealt with correctly and in a timely manner, they will have a continuous adverse effect and even lead to psychological disorders. Thus, it seems that psychological problems are often encountered in daily life, these problems to seek psychological counseling does not mean that there is something abnormal or unseemly privacy, on the contrary, it shows that the individual has a higher life goals, hope that through psychological counseling to better self-improvement, rather than avoiding and denying the problem, chaotic life in vain. A considerable number of people think that mental illness is madness. In fact, the mental illness they are talking about is strictly speaking severe mental illness, such as schizophrenia and bipolar disorder, which is very different from general psychological problems and mild mental disorders. The vast majority of psychiatric patients have no self-awareness of their illnesses, much less take the initiative to seek treatment. Psychology ≠ Peeping Inside Two old classmates who have not seen each other for a long time meet each other unexpectedly on the road. One of them knows that the other one is a psychotherapist, so he asks him to guess what is going through his mind right now. Many visitors have a similar mentality, they are unwilling or ashamed to reveal their own psychological activities, thinking that as long as a few simple words, the counselor should be able to guess what is in his mind, or it shows that the level of the counselor is not high. In fact, psychotherapists are also human beings, they do not have any special ability to see into the inner world of others, they just apply the theory and method of psychology to discuss and analyze certain information provided by the visitor, and carry out counseling and treatment. Therefore, visitors need to provide detailed information in order to help doctors and patients together to find the crux of the problem, which is conducive to the therapist to make a correct diagnosis and appropriate treatment. Counseling ≠ omnipotent Many visitors will be counseling the deification of psychological counseling, it seems that the counselor does not know, omnipotent, like a “locksmith”, what kind of knots can be opened, so often come to the clinic for one or two times, did not achieve the desired “open-minded” state of mind, and then the therapist will be able to help the patient to find the problem. Therefore, they often come to the clinic once or twice, and if they do not achieve the desired “openness and enlightenment”, they are greatly disappointed and never come back. In fact, psychological counseling is a continuous, difficult process of change. Psychological problems are often related to the visitor’s personality and life experience, like an iceberg, sealed for a long time, no strong motivation to seek help, change, no constant determination to fight against it, it is difficult to melt the ice, so visitors need to have to fight a “long war” psychological preparation. I hope that people with psychological counseling needs through the above several “inequality” to understand the nature of psychological counseling and the way of work, dispel concerns, open heart, and actively cooperate with the authority of the psychiatrist to do their own psychological adjustment, to help themselves to relieve the pain caused by psychological confusion, and return to positive and healthy work and life.
