3D technology successfully applied to minimally invasive surgery

The Hepatobiliary Minimally Invasive Surgery Department of Hunan Provincial People’s Hospital pays close attention to the world’s medical development dynamics and aims at the cutting-edge technology of medicine. Prof. Jiang Bo, the vice president of the department, takes the lead in proposing and introducing the laparoscopic 3D technology, and its application in minimally invasive surgeries is spearheaded by Director Yin Xinmin. Since the technology has been carried out in the hospital for 2 months, it has been widely used in laparoscopic hepatectomy, choledochotomy, bile duct formation, bile and intestinal internal drainage, pancreatic tumor resection, giant splenectomy and gastrointestinal minimally invasive surgeries, etc., which have all achieved satisfactory results and have been highly praised by the majority of doctors; for those who are beginners to learn laparoscopic technology, their learning curve can be shorter. The high-definition, enlarged, stereoscopic 3D image replaces the previous flat image, which allows the surgeon to perform fine operations with ease in a limited space, reduces surgical side injuries and bleeding, improves surgical safety, and shortens surgical time compared with the previous one, which guarantees a successful surgery for the patients.
