Is cryptogenic nephritis chronic nephritis?

Cryptogenic nephritis is not chronic nephritis, both cryptogenic nephritis and chronic nephritis belong to glomerulonephritis.
Cryptogenic nephritis, clinically, is mainly asymptomatic hematuria or proteinuria. The abnormality is usually found during urinalysis, and there will be no edema, hypertension, or impairment of renal function. The disease generally has a good prognosis, and most patients can maintain normal renal function for a long time.
Chronic nephritis then mainly manifests as hematuria, edema, proteinuria, hypertension, and varying degrees of renal function. Chronic nephritis, if left untreated, will eventually develop into renal failure and uremia.
Therefore, both cryptogenic nephritis and chronic nephritis belong to glomerulonephritis, which are two different diseases.
When diagnosed with cryptogenic nephritis or chronic nephritis, it is recommended that patients go to regular hospitals in time for consultation and active treatment to slow down the progress of the disease.
