Precautions after prostatectomy

After prostatectomy, the electrodes are relatively large and it takes about 3 months to heal completely. During the recovery process, health care during this period is especially critical, otherwise a series of complications will occur.   For the early post-operative period most people will have varying degrees of urinary incontinence, be sure to develop the habit of urinating regularly. During the day, you should urinate once in 2-4 hours, whether you have the urge to urinate or not; at night, you should urinate before going to bed, and at night, you can get up to urinate once. At the same time, strengthen anal lifting training to improve the elasticity of the urethral sphincter. After surgery, the wound surface will be attached to some necrotic tissue or blood clots that have not been completely shed, which is a good medium for bacterial growth, plus the patient’s resistance decreases after surgery, bacteria are more likely to take advantage of the situation to cause urinary tract infections, and then cause wound infection and bleeding. To prevent this from happening, patients should take oral broad-spectrum antibiotics for 2-3 weeks after discharge from the hospital and drink more water in order to dilute and flush the urinary tract. Once there is an abnormal increase in urination, painful urination, cloudy urine and fever, there is a possibility of urinary tract infection and immediate medical attention should be sought. If the bowel movement is hard or the stool is dry and hard within 3 months after the operation, it will cause the wound to re-break and bleed. Therefore, it is important to eat more vegetables, fruits, coarse grains and other foods rich in dietary fiber, and drink more water to moisten the stool. You can also take hemp and intestinal pills to soften the stool, smooth the intestinal wall, and stimulate intestinal peristalsis to promote bowel movement. Avoid strenuous activities, cycling, sex and alcohol consumption for 3 months after surgery. Because these actions may cause bleeding of the trauma and bacterial infection. Pay attention to diet and nutrition allocation, pay attention to seasonal changes and prevent colds. You can do some light activities and keep your mood happy to facilitate recovery.
