What are the indications for biliary lithotripsy in hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgery?

In recent times, we have found that the most popular topic among patients who come to us for consultation is gallbladder stone extraction. 1) young patients (generally less than 40 years old) with gallbladder stones found by ultrasound; 2) no previous clinical manifestations of severe calculous cholecystitis or history of acute attacks; 3) good gallbladder contraction function (>30%); 4) strong willingness of the patient to preserve gallbladder; 5) laparoscopic exploration shows a full gallbladder shape, elasticity of the separating forceps, thin gallbladder wall, no adhesions with the surrounding, and opening the gallbladder After opening the gallbladder, the gallbladder mucosa was seen to be smooth without a large number of stones attached to the wall. We strongly advocate laparoscopic cholecystectomy for patients with recurrent acute attacks of gallbladder stones, filled gallbladder stones, gallbladder separation, thick walls, gallbladder atrophy, gallbladder tumor polyps, non-functional gallbladder, non-permeable gallbladder ducts, thick gallbladder walls, heavy inflammation, and adhesions with the surrounding area during intraoperative investigation. We believe that no treatment is perfect, and as the decision maker of the treatment plan, we have to adopt the principle of individualization and choose different treatment plans according to the patient’s specific situation, so as to benefit the patient to the maximum extent.
