Why is it important for people with the liver virus to have regular checkups?

As our country is a high prevalence of hepatitis B, many virus carriers do not develop the disease throughout their lives. Some chronic hepatitis B patients do not take it seriously and go to the hospital only when they feel unwell, but they find that they have cirrhosis or even advanced liver cancer, which is regrettable. Therefore, hepatitis B virus carriers should always be vigilant, regular checkups of liver function, hepatitis B viral indicators and ultrasound in the hospital, once abnormalities are detected, further testing of hepatitis B virus genotyping, consulting authoritative specialists for diagnosis. Some patients only check the virological indexes every time, and the results of virological indexes only indicate whether they are infected with hepatitis B virus or not, but not whether the liver is damaged or the degree of damage. It is usually by checking liver biochemistry that the presence of inflammatory activity in the liver can be known. There are two main types of aminotransferases that are clinically tested for liver function through blood tests, one is called alanine aminotransferase (ALT); the other is called azalea transaminase (AST). Since ALT and AST are mainly found in liver cells, when they are significantly elevated, it often indicates liver damage. However, there are many causes of liver injury, not only hepatitis B, but also other viral hepatitis, as well as other diseases that may cause liver injury, and the cause must be further investigated. In addition to the above examination, hepatitis B virus infected patients also need to undergo regular ultrasound examination to see if the liver is gradually shrinking and the spleen is gradually increasing, that is to say, before and after several times of liver, gallbladder and spleen ultrasound results are compared with each other in order to find out the problem. Therefore, ultrasound needs to be observed dynamically to have greater significance. Some patients do not have any symptoms, and the aminotransferase is not high, but the gradual shrinkage of the liver and the gradual enlargement of the spleen in ultrasound examination also indicate that there is active inflammation in the liver, which needs to be actively treated, or it will easily lead to cirrhosis. There are also some patients who think that they can rest easy because of the virological indexes: HBsAg positive, HBeAb positive, HbcAb positive, not knowing that this is the reason why the disease cannot be detected at an early stage. Generally speaking, hepatitis B virus infection “small triple positive” state is the hepatitis B virus replication “hibernation”, at this time, the hepatitis B virus is almost no replication, liver function is normal, the patient’s condition is relatively stable, no need for treatment. However, some patients with “small triple positive” have recurrent liver function abnormalities, which may be due to infection with a kind of hepatitis B virus mutated in the former C region. Although the e antigen in the serum of such “small triple positive” patients is negative, the virus in the body does not “hibernate”, and they also keep replicating in the body just like the “big triple positive” patients (HBVDNA-positive). HBVDNA positive), the condition is constantly progressing, resulting in progressive liver disease. Therefore, people infected with hepatitis B virus must regularly check liver function, ultrasound, and people over 30 years old should check AFP, because AFP can be significantly elevated before ultrasound, CT, and magnetic resonance imaging find liver masses, i.e. early detection of primary liver cancer. This is currently recognized by the medical community as the most effective method for ultra-early detection of primary liver cancer, and it is also a well-established technique. A positive AFP does not mean that it is liver cancer, and it is still necessary to see how high the concentration of AFP is, which requires quantitative examination of AFP, and combined with other related tests to comprehensively analyze and judge, in order to determine the diagnosis and timely treatment.
