Why gallbladder stones are often accompanied by cholecystitis

When bile enters the gallbladder, the cystic duct is its “necessary path”, and the diameter of the cystic duct is very small, only 2 to 3 mm. When there are stones in the gallbladder, the cystic duct is easily blocked, causing bile to accumulate and concentrate, and stimulating the mucous membrane in the gallbladder to cause inflammation. In addition, due to the obstruction of bile excretion, gallbladder distension, gallbladder vascular pressure, causing gallbladder ischemia, resistance to decline, bacteria take advantage of the opportunity to “make waves”, bacterial infection and lead to cholecystitis. Inflammation of the gallbladder causes the cells of the gallbladder wall to fall off, and together with white blood cells and bacteria, they form the core of gallstones. Inflammation of the gallbladder causes changes in the composition of the bile, leading to the deposition of cholesterol and bilirubin to form gallstones. Gallstones can further obstruct the gallbladder duct and aggravate the inflammation of gallbladder, therefore, gallbladder stone disease and cholecystitis are mutually causal and often complicate the condition.
