Depression, also known as depressed mood, is characterized by abnormally low mood, depressed state of mind, poor self-perception, diminished interest, often self-condemnation and self-blame, and even self-injury and suicide. It is often accompanied by loss of appetite, reduced libido or amenorrhea, etc. In general, if you have been immersed in this depressed state for more than 2 months, you may have developed depression.1. Mood symptoms: The core symptom is the change in mood, low mood, sullenness, pessimism and other negative emotions will accompany the patient, easy to lose temper over trivial matters, good complaints, poor concentration, often feeling memory loss. Physical symptoms: Patients who are deeply depressed will not only have mental problems, but also physical symptoms, including pain and fatigue, which can be accumulated in various systems such as respiratory, cardiovascular, digestive, urinary and neurological systems, including panic, chest tightness, shortness of breath, stomach discomfort and nausea. Some patients may experience decreased sexual function, decreased libido, menstrual disorders, sleep disorders, etc. At the same time, anxiety and depression have a high co-morbidity rate, and these patients are often combined with alcohol and substance dependence. Other patients have a combination of somatic diseases, such as peptic ulcer, hypertension, coronary heart disease, diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis, skin allergy, asthma, etc. Somatic diseases and anxiety-depression problems affect each other, complicating the disease, thus delaying recovery and even significantly increasing self-injurious suicide attempts and behaviors. Therefore, once depressed moods appear, people must adjust in time and not be in jail before wanting to treat them. References: [1] Yao Shuqiao,Yang Yanchun. Medical Psychology. 6th edition [M].
