Can gallstones become gallbladder cancer?

Gallstones, as a common disease, is often overlooked by people, unaware that gallstones may lead to gallbladder cancer if left untreated. As gallbladder cancer has no obvious symptoms in the early stage, patients may mistake the manifestation of gallbladder cancer as the influence of stones and miss the treatment time. So, will gallstones become gallbladder cancer? Current research shows that gallbladder stones may lead to gallbladder cancer if they are not treated correctly in time. According to statistics, 54.3% to 100% of gallbladder cancer patients in Europe and America have gallbladder stones, while 20% to 82.6% of gallbladder cancer patients in China have gallbladder stones. From the perspective of gallstones, 1.5% to 6.3% of gallstone patients have gallbladder cancer in combination. It has also been shown that the risk of gallbladder cancer is 4-5 times higher in patients with gallstones than in those without stones, and the risk of gallbladder cancer is greater the earlier the age of gallstones; the risk of gallbladder cancer is 10 times greater in patients with gallstones larger than 25 px in diameter than in those with less than 25 px in diameter. The risk of gallbladder cancer in patients with gallbladder stones is 38 times higher than that in patients without stones. Eat more “bile-friendly foods” to prevent stones A reasonable diet is the best way to prevent gallstones and gallbladder cancer. Doctors suggest that fish, seafood, vegetables, fruits, green tea, etc. are “bile-friendly foods”, which can reduce the risk of gallbladder cancer. Garlic and onions also have a significant protective effect on the gallbladder. Drinking a glass of milk every night or eating an egg at breakfast can promote the contraction and emptying of the gallbladder at regular intervals, but people who already suffer from gallbladder disease should pay attention to eating less of such food, otherwise it may trigger an acute attack of cholecystitis. Some patients with gallstones often mistakenly think they have stomach disease and blindly take medication without systematic examination; some patients do not have acute abdominal pain because the symptoms are not heavy, so they drag on without active treatment; some patients are afraid of surgery or have misconceptions and are reluctant to undergo surgery; moreover, some patients even listen to and believe in the wrong things. Some patients even listen to and believe in incorrect treatment methods and blindly perform the so-called “stone removal” and “lithotripsy” for a long time. At present, as the incidence of gallstones increases, the incidence of gallbladder cancer also increases. If gallbladder cancer without metastasis can be detected and diagnosed early, and simple gallbladder removal can be performed in time, the 5-year survival rate of patients can reach more than 90%. However, if it develops to middle and late stage, the survival rate will be significantly reduced. Chinese and Western medicine can be combined with surgical treatment, radiotherapy, chemotherapy and other treatment programs to fully carry forward the traditional theory of Chinese medicine, highlighting the principles (combination of identification and disease identification, combination of local and overall, combination of supporting the righteous and eliminating the evil) and rules (supporting the righteous and cultivating the root, clearing heat and detoxifying, activating blood circulation and removing blood stasis, softening hardness and dispersing knots, etc.) of Chinese medicine treatment.
