What foods are good for duodenal ulcer

The occurrence of duodenal ulcers is closely related to the damaging effect of gastric acid, and the symptoms are manifested by the aggravation of pain after the consumption of irritating foods such as cold, sour and spicy foods. The principles of food selection are based on these disease characteristics. The general principle of diet is light and easy to digest, with balanced nutrition. Foods that are weakly alkaline will help to relieve symptoms, such as soda-containing foods and fermented foods, all of which help to improve pain and digestion in ulcer patients. Although weak alkaline milk can also dilute the acidity in the stomach and relieve symptoms in the short term, it should not be consumed in excess on an empty stomach because milk contains more calcium, which has the effect of stimulating gastric acid secretion. The large amount of drinking will increase the secretion of gastric acid and aggravate the symptoms. The food should be warm and soft, because most ulcer patients like heat and fear cold. Duodenal ulcer patients tend to have pain when hungry, so the diet also needs to be regular, not only the time regular, but also the appropriate amount of food, not hungry and full, overeating. The choice of diet should avoid raw, cold, sour and spicy stimulating foods. Avoid foods and drinks that further damage the mucosa, such as drinking and smoking. Foods that will stimulate the secretion of gastric acid, such as coffee, strong tea, greasy food, too sweet food, etc. may aggravate the symptoms. Food should not be too hard, too coarse food can cause damage to the mucosa. Therefore, the dietary principles of duodenal ulcer can be summarized as three aspects: light and easy to digest, balanced nutrition and avoid stimulation.
