Is there a relationship between alcohol consumption and gout?

Gout is caused by eating too much seafood, offal, crab and other foods with high purine content for a long period of time. Purine is metabolized in the body to produce uric acid, which is then excreted through the kidneys. If the uric acid in the blood is not excreted in time, or the kidneys do not excrete uric acid well, over time, uric acid will be deposited on the bones, stimulating the bones and joints will produce gout, and in serious cases, kidney stones, renal insufficiency, pericarditis and other complications can arise. Doctors say that gout requires comprehensive treatment, such as pain relief, reducing the intake of purine-containing foods, promoting uric acid excretion, and protecting the joints and kidneys. Some people do not know that they are suffering from gouty arthritis and treat it as rheumatoid arthritis, using snake wine or ant wine, which backfires and the more they drink, the higher their blood uric acid and the more likely they are to trigger gout. Therefore, the doctor cautioned that patients with arthritis, especially arthritis in the toe area, must go to the hospital to check the blood uric acid before symptomatic treatment. In addition to comprehensive treatment for gout patients, a reasonable diet plays a vital role in the development of the disease. Eggs and milk do not contain purines, and most vegetables (except mushrooms, spinach, lentils, asparagus and beans) and fruits contain very little purines and can be eaten without worry. However, animal offal, fish roe, bone marrow, sardines, oysters, small shrimp skin, tamari, and various kinds of broths should be “avoided”. In addition, you can eat a small amount of tofu instead of soybeans, but of course, pay attention to the right amount. In addition, gout patients should not drink alcohol, especially beer. Because drinking alcohol will cause the accumulation of lactic acid in the body, and lactic acid has a competitive effect on the excretion of uric acid. On the other hand, drink more water and eat more alkaline containing foods, such as soda crackers, steamed buns, noodles, seaweed nori and other foods to facilitate uric acid excretion.
