Late syphilis symptoms

Advanced syphilis can form dendritic swellings in the calf area and destruction of the nasal septum bone, which can form a saddle nose. Fibrous nodules can be formed under the skin, symmetrical, variable in size, hard and inactive. Late syphilis is mainly manifested as cardiovascular syphilis and neurosyphilis. Cardiovascular syphilis is generally characterized by the invasion of the aorta, which can lead to aortic valve atresia and syphilitic heart disease. Neurological syphilis can manifest as syphilitic meningitis, cerebrovascular syphilis, meningeal dendritic swelling, paralytic dementia, etc. Patients can have increased intracranial pressure, headache, local pressure symptoms, and some patients can show abnormal sensation and ataxia.
