How alkalosis is related to osteoporosis

Alkalosis is not generally associated with osteoporosis. Alkalosis can cause changes in respiratory rhythm, as well as psychiatric symptoms, lethargy, euphoria, agitation, and severe coma, or increased neuromuscular excitability, with twitching of the hands and feet and hyperreflexia of the tendons. Treatment of alkalosis requires removal of the cause, correction of electrolyte disorders and acid-base balance. Diseases that cause osteoporosis mainly include endocrine diseases, commonly hyperthyroidism, Cushing’s syndrome, type 1 diabetes mellitus, gout, systemic lupus erythematosus, rheumatoid arthritis and so on. To treat osteoporosis, calcium and vitamin D supplements are usually needed, and anti-osteoporosis drugs such as alendronate are applied as prescribed by the doctor. Therefore, alkalosis and osteoporosis are usually not related. Patients with the above diseases are advised to consult a doctor in time to avoid aggravation of the disease.
