Bleeding after intercourse, sometimes called contact bleeding, is a situation that women often encounter, and many people have asked me about such a situation, so I’m concentrating on the science today. Bleeding after intercourse has an incidence of about 6% in a woman of childbearing age. The bleeding is usually found during or after sexual intercourse and has little to do with menstruation. Some cases of bleeding after intercourse are precursors to certain diseases, and it is important to be alert if they occur. The causes of post-coital bleeding may include: cervical cancer: about 11% of cervical cancer patients may have post-coital bleeding, which may also be the first symptom. Inflammation of the cervix: Inflammation and congestion of the cervix caused by pathogens such as gonococcus, chlamydia, anaerobic bacteria, etc. may lead to contact bleeding, which is usually accompanied by excessive leucorrhea and yellowing. Cervical polyps: usually prolapsed from the cervical canal, the polyps tend to bleed after contact. Cervical tissue is brittle: This is not a diagnosis. The columnar epithelium in the cervical canal, stimulated by estrogen, appears on the surface of the cervix as columnar epithelial ectropion (many doctors used to diagnose it as “cervical erosion”) and contact bleeding may also occur. If you have not had a pap smear for a long time, you are usually advised to have a pap smear. Some pathogens, such as chlamydia, gonococcus and BV, usually require special tests for a definitive diagnosis. Cervical polyps can usually be detected by visual examination by a doctor. Cervical tumors and inflammatory diseases require appropriate professional treatment, while polyps can be removed in an outpatient setting. If tumor, inflammation and polyps are ruled out after examination, no special treatment is needed for other conditions. Cervical columnar epithelial ectropion is a normal physiological phenomenon and does not require any treatment. Therefore, the most important thing is to clarify the cause of bleeding after sex, and after understanding the cause, treat the cause.
