Mental health is also known as mental health, what is mental health? At present, there are four indicators of mental health that are agreed and recognized by the World Institute of Mental Health: ① physical, intellectual and emotional harmony; ② adapt to the environment, interpersonal relationships can be humble; ③ have a sense of well-being; ④ treat work and occupation, can give full play to their abilities, and live an efficient life. Among them, emotions are pleasant and stable as the tone, and passions can be properly vented under rational control. If the mood is low it seriously affects the mental health and the quality of study, work and life. There was speculation that the famous artist Leslie Cheung died of depression, and after everyone sighed, there was some awareness of the dangers of depression. Normal people in a certain situation can also have the performance of depressed mood, if it lasts for more than 1~2 weeks and cannot be explained according to their situation, then it is considered a depressive episode. Patients with depressed mood have sad expressions, sighing, bitterness, and feel that their future is bleak. In severe cases, pessimism and despair, and even suicidal ideas and behavior. It is often accompanied by slowed thinking, reduced movement and inhibition of certain physiological functions, such as loss of appetite, early awakening and amenorrhea. In the case of depressed mood, patients have low self-esteem, feel inferior to others, and blame themselves for all their faults, often generating a sense of uselessness, hopelessness, helplessness and worthlessness. The patient feels that he or she is a burden to the family and society, and when he or she looks back on the past, he or she feels isolated and self-condemned. In typical depression cases, the depressive state of mind is characterized by a morning-heavy and night-light rhythm, and sleep disturbances are mainly manifested by early awakening. Mildly depressed patients feel sullen and unhappy, lack interest in everything, and feel bored with activities they usually enjoy, such as watching soccer games, playing cards, planting flowers, etc. They are not motivated to do anything and feel “depressed” and “unhappy”; Patients with severe cases may feel painful, pessimistic and desperate, with the feeling that life is like years and life is worse than death, often accompanied by negative suicidal ideas or behaviors, patients often complain that “there is no point in living”, “it is hard to feel”, and that “they are redundant in the world. I think I am superfluous in the world”. In addition to depression, most elderly depressed patients have prominent anxiety and irritability, which can sometimes be manifested as irritability and hostility, and physical discomfort is more pronounced than in younger patients. Depressive mood can occur at any age, from adolescence, young adulthood, middle age to old age. Mood disorders in children, postpartum depressive episodes, menopausal depression, depression in old age, suicide, etc. are receiving more and more attention. Of course, there is also an insidious depression, mainly manifested as insomnia, and accompanied by self-conscious discomfort in various parts of the body, patients for various anxiety symptoms, but thinking activities are often not exposed, but also suicidal thoughts. According to relevant information, there are about 40 million depressed patients in China, and the 2002 epidemiological survey of mental illness in our city shows that the prevalence of affective mental disorders ranks first, especially the rising prevalence of depression, which should be given great attention. ”I feel very tired” and “I feel very annoyed” are often verbal expressions of low mood. When feeling depressed, lack of cheerfulness, in the face of psychological pressure, be good at channeling their bad mood, be tolerant of themselves, do not pursue perfection too much, so that there will not be too much frustration, have the mood to experience their own success. China’s popular saying: “laugh a smile, ten years less; worry a worry, white head.” Commonly, it illustrates the positive effect of laughter emotion on people. People believe that laughter can dispel sorrow for themselves, laughter can make the body and mind more robust. When people cannot rely on their own regulation to get rid of depression, seeking counseling from a professional physician is a good way to go. A counselor or psychotherapist will work with you to identify the sources of low mood and ways to relieve it. The use of psychological tests such as the Depression Self-Rating Inventory can help determine the severity of depression. Of course, when depressed, there are often some cognitive misinterpretations, such as describing a small mistake in life as “I am useless”, “all the faults are caused by my own uselessness”, “I am sorry to everyone “. If these misconceptions are correctly understood with the help of a physician, it can help to alleviate depression, improve the patient’s interpersonal skills, increase the satisfaction of family and marital life, and maintain mental health. Timely treatment with antidepressants is necessary when depressed mood significantly affects school, work and life, and will greatly improve people’s quality of life. Current medications for depressive episodes include doxepin, fluoxetine, paroxetine, citalopram, venlafaxine, etc., which can effectively relieve depression, prevent suicide and maintain a happy mood.
